Worthington's Revolutionary War Veterans - America 250 at St. John's Series
Educational history program about Revolutionary War veterans at St. John's.
Step back in time and discover the hidden Revolutionary War stories of Worthington's founding families. Did you know that beyond the well-known service of town founders Abner Pinney, Israel Case, and William Thompson, ten other early residents fought for American independence? This guided churchyard tour uncovers some remarkable histories—including Minute Men, a member of the elite Green Mountain Boys militia, and a soldier who fought at the famous Battle of Bunker Hill.
Led by historian Ted Dziemianowicz, this one-hour walking tour explores the churchyard while sharing how these veterans' paths eventually led them to settle in Worthington. Part of St. John's Historic Preservation Fund's America 250 celebration series, it's a perfect way for families interested in local and Revolutionary War history to connect with Worthington's roots. The tour runs one hour and is held outdoors at the historic church, making it accessible to visitors of all ages.
