Quilt by Numbers - Summer Camp

Quilt by Numbers - Summer Camp

Create patchwork quilts by the numbers in this hands-on summer camp.

Kids ages 16 and up can dive into Foundation Paper Piecing, a fabric sewing technique that transforms paper templates and colorful fabric scraps into finished quilt blocks. During this full-day summer camp, participants will learn the basics of this popular quilting method while working alongside instructor Trish Herbers. The class accommodates just six students, ensuring personalized attention in an intimate setting. You'll need to bring a sewing machine in working order along with thread, pins, and basic supplies—many tools like rotary cutters and rulers are provided to share, and the instructor supplies patterns and fabrics for you to work with. The camp runs from 9 AM to 4 PM and costs $70 per ticket, plus a $10 materials fee paid directly to the instructor on the first day (cash or check). Younger teens under 18 must have a registered adult attend with them to help during class. Participants should come comfortable using a sewing machine and feeling confident sewing straight lines—no advanced quilting experience needed. The guild provides access to a refrigerator and microwave if you'd like to bring lunch, and registration closes a week before the event date.
