Natural Dye Printing and Indigo Shibori - Summer Camp

Natural Dye Printing and Indigo Shibori - Summer Camp

Learn natural dye printing and indigo shibori techniques at Weavers Guild summer camp.

Kids and teens ages 16 and up can spend three days exploring textile art with the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati. This hands-on summer camp teaches natural dye printing and indigo shibori techniques, with each day running three hours starting at 1 p.m. You'll work with dyes grown in the Guild's own garden and learn mordant printing, ferrous sulfate techniques, and traditional shibori wrapping and tying methods. All materials needed for the projects are included in the workshop kit, and you'll have chances to experiment with different approaches throughout the three days—plus tea breaks to recharge. The $100 class fee covers instruction from experienced teachers Gina Truhart and Amber Ostaszewski, with an additional $35 materials fee due in cash or check on the first day. Classes are small (limited to 8 students) and held both outdoors and on the second floor, so come prepared with stain-friendly clothing. Teens under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Registration closed, but you can follow the Weavers Guild on Eventbrite for notifications about future offerings.
