Full Moon Tour of the Octagon Earthwork
Nighttime tour of Octagon Earthwork under the full moon.
Experience the Octagon Earthworks as the sun sets during this special guided tour led by an archaeologist. You'll meet at the visitor center just before dusk and spend about an hour exploring this remarkable ancient site on foot. Your guide will share insights into the earthwork's impressive scale, its intricate design, and its connection to the moon and the people who built it long ago.
The walk covers roughly a mile of uneven, unpaved terrain, so wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for changing light as day turns to evening. Flashlights are available to borrow if you need one. General admission is $10 per person, though Ohio History Connection members and students with valid ID get in free. No advance registration is needed—simply arrive and pay when you get there. These tours run on select dates throughout the summer, with slightly different start times depending on the season.
